Labour Day is observed every year on 1 May. It is a holiday in most countries around the world and perhaps one of the most important ones.
However, most of us don’t think about its significance and even take it for granted. Behind the holiday lies a legacy of protest, solidarity and the ongoing fight for workers’ rights, even here in Malaysia.
BFM discusses the significance of Labour Day and the upcoming Labour Day rally in Kuala Lumpur this Friday. The march will begin at the National Mosque at 15:00 and end at Dataran Merdeka. On the line is S Arutchelvan, the deputy chairperson of the socialist party PSM.
