On 7 April a prosecution witness agreed with prosecutors in the Najib Razak 1MDB trial that US$681m or RM2.3bn flowed into the former prime minister’s private bank accounts at AmBank from 2011 to 2014.
These funds, the prosecution said by showing flowcharts, originated from the various loans and bonds raised by 1MDB.
Najib had so far maintained that the funds found in his accounts were donations from Arab royalty.
