Deutsche Bank Malaysia Bhd (DBMB) was pressured to accelerate a $1bn remittance order to meet former Prime Minister Najib Razak’s deadline, a banker told the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday.
Jacqueline Ho Yek Wan, a former DBMB managing director, said Casey Tang, a former 1MDB executive director, had told her that the remittance had to be done by 4pm on 30 September 2009. She was informed that the matter was important as it was part of a government-to-government deal that Najib was going to announce in a press conference.
