A coalition of more than 70 countries, along with the EU, has strongly condemned deadly attacks on United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon, warning that such actions may constitute a war crime.

The joint statement, led by Indonesia and France at the UN, followed the killing of three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) and injuries to personnel from multiple nations.

The countries called for immediate de-escalation, accountability for those responsible, and stronger protection measures for UN personnel amid rising violence and mass displacement in Lebanon.

The statement highlights growing global concern over the deteriorating security situation and its implications for international peacekeeping operations.
