The Ministry of Home Affairs did not receive any orders from the Prime Minister’s Department’s legal affairs division on allowing Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under ‘house arrest’, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
At a press conference in Putrajaya today, the home minister clarified that his ministry only received a letter outlining the board’s decision to halve Najib’s prison sentence from 12 to six years and reduce his fine from RM210m to RM50m in the SRC International case.
Saifuddin dismissed claims his ministry refused to enforce a house arrest order, noting the addendum was never communicated to the Prisons Department.
