The House of Representatives passed the Independent Police Complaints Commission Bill bill this week, to the disappointment of civil society groups calling for a much stronger body to address police misconduct such as independent police complaints and misconduct commission (IPCMC).

BFM speaks to Dato’ Sri M Ramachelvam, the co-chairperson of the Bar Council’s taskforce on the IPCMC and police accountability about why the proposed IPCC is flawed

They also talk about the extension of Section 4(5) of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), which allows detention for up to 28-days.
