The Black Flag campaign was initiated recently over social media, where Malaysians hung black flags outside of their homes and shared those images online as a sign of protest.
To examine the protest, BFM speaks with Viktor from Misi: Solidariti; Iskandar Fareez, communications director at Refsa; Jahabar Sadiq, founder of the Malaysian Insight; and Khoo Ying Hooi, head of the Department of International and Strategic Studies at University of Malaya.
The discussion explores why it is crucial for people to express their concerns and demands now and how online spaces are integral to the movement. It also looks back on past protests in Malaysia.
