Charter 2000 welcomes Mah's remarks, urges Bar to endorse manifesto
Last May, we wrote to Mah a letter enclosing our press freedom manifesto, in a bid to get the Bar Council to endorse it. In the light of his reported remarks yesterday, we hope that the Bar Council will now be able to provide its endorsement.

Charter 2000, a Malaysian citizens media initiative to uphold press freedom, is pleased with Bar Council chairman Mah Weng Kwai's assurance to the press of his support in any undertaking towards press freedom, irrespective of deficiencies in the law or what the law presently has to offer.
