A Subversion of Justice

Nasaruddin's re-arrest shows up the lawlessness of the state

Aliran condemns the subversion of justice displayed in the re-arrest of Nasaruddin Nasir, who was supposed to be released from the Kamunting Detention Camp near Taiping.

By re-arresting him today after yesterday's Shah Alam High Court order for his release, the Barisan Nasional government has once again trampled on justice and made a mockery of our judiciary.

Nasaruddin, a trader, was detained without trial under the Internal Security Act on April 17 for alleged involvement in the so-called Malaysian Militant Group (KMM).

His re-arrest shows up the lawlessness of the state and reveals how it terrorises citizens even after they have been cleared by the court.
